“Neri, Rogero and Kotyk perform well in Indiana”
August 10, 2010 – The Ocala Gran Prix (OGP) race team had another successful weekend at the fourth round of the World Karting Association (WKA) Manufacturer’s Cup program this past weekend. Taking place at the ultra fast New Castle Motorsports Park facility, the three OGP drivers managed to garner four pole positions, five podium results and two main event victories.
Nick Neri, who was returning from a broken arm that required surgery two and a half weeks ago, was back on track competing in the Komet Junior and Yamaha Junior divisions. Leading three of the four class point standings heading into the weekend, Neri would look to stay at the front of the field and gain what was possible from the weekend.
In the Yamaha Junior Lite class, Neri swept the day’s action scoring the pole position, prefinal win and main event victory. Competing in Yamaha Junior Heavy the next day, the Floridian would look to have the same sort of results and started off well scoring the pole. An incident in the prefinal would force the Tony Kart driver to start from the tail of the field in the final (38th position) where he had an outstanding run driving forward to an eighth place result and in the process, scored the fastest race lap.
Looking for another class sweep in the Komet classes, Neri claimed the pole position in Komet Junior Heavy and followed that up with a solid second place result. In Komet Junior Lite, Neri would come home in the third position as a quartet of drivers battled hard for the win.
Female pilot Ashley Rogero was back in action in Indiana and proved that she is a front runner in the Sportsman classes. Utilizing her track knowledge, Rogero made multiple passes on the last lap to score heat race wins and a main even victory in the Yamaha Sportsman Heavy division. Rogero had another podium in Sunday’s Cadet Junior Sportsman class as she came home in the third position after claiming the pole position for the same class in Saturday’s racing action.
Two divisions didn’t provide any luck for the Tony Kart driver as the Komet Sportsman class, Rogero and her crew overcame problems all weekend to salvage a top ten result. The Yamaha Sportsman Lite class would prove to be a rough and tumble affair that saw Rogero come home in twelfth.
Both Rogero and Neri will head to the final round of the WKA Manufacturer’s Cup program in six weeks time at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Both drivers have the opportunity to take home multiple championships in this series.
Jonathon Kotyk entered the New Castle Motorsports Park event sitting tenth in points in both the Yamaha Junior Lite and Yamaha Junior Heavy divisions. After terrific runs at Road America, Kotyk would show speed throughout the weekend but would finish just outside the top ten. Gaining experience with each and every passing weekend, Kotyk will head to New Jersey with the goal of attaining a top five result in his first season of WKA action.
“The Ocala Gran Prix crew had a good weekend,” expressed Team Manager Kyle Kraus. “There were some ups and downs but the team worked together and overcame all the problems. We are looking forward to heading to New Jersey to finish the 2010 season and build momentum towards the start of our 2011 campaign.”
Ocala Gran Prix is also continuing to expand their dealership network. Any interested parties are asked to come by the Ocala Gran Prix tent and speak with Kyle Kraus or Mike Maurini.

Sometime between 6:00pm on August 10th, 2010 and 9:00am on August 11th, 2010, the Ocala Gran Prix facility in Ocala, Florida was broken into. Thieves cut a fence to gain access to the property and managed to gain access to four different trailers on the ground taking a variety of different equipment including karts, motors, data acquisition systems, clothing, helmets, suits, etc. While the value of equipment stolen is still being inventoried, it is expected that more than $50,000 of product was taken from innocent victims trailers. The Ocala Gran Prix building was not broken into as it is believed that the security system deterred thieves from making an attempt on the building.

“Neri, Rogero and Kotyk will fly OGP Banner at WKA Manufacturer’s Cup”
August 3, 2010 – The Ocala Gran Prix (OGP) race team is set to launch their assault on the fourth round of the World Karting Association (WKA) Manufacturer’s Cup program this weekend at the New Castle Motorsports Park facility. Located 45 minutes from the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway, OGP drivers will look to add to their already impressive win total in 2010 as well as stretch out championship point leads in multiple divisions.
Nick Neri will travel to Indiana leading three championship battles in the four classes that he is entered in. Working with tuner Mike Maurini, Neri is overcoming a broken arm and surgery less than three weeks ago but has been cleared by doctors to compete in the event. Neri enters the fourth round on top of the Komet Junior Lite, Komet Junior Heavy and Yamaha Junior Heavy class where he is unbeaten in the series. Neri’s only flaw in his record to date is a fifth place point total in the Yamaha Junior Lite class due to an incident in the second round of the series.
Floridian female pilot Ashley Rogero enters the weekend leading two class championships while sitting second and third in the other. Competing at the Route 66 event at New Castle this weekend, Rogero took three class victories as well as a solid second place result in both wet and dry weather racing. Rogero will look to carry her momentum into the national level series this weekend as she is atop the Cadet Junior Sportsman and Komet Sportsman classes.
Another Ocala Gran Prix driver making the trek to Indiana from Florida is Jonathon Kotyk. Fresh off a double victory at the Florida Karting Championship Series two weekends ago, Kotyk will be back behind the wheel of his Yamaha powered Tony Kart for both Saturday and Sunday’s action. Kotyk currently sits eleventh in the Yamaha Junior Lite points chase while he is tenth in Yamaha Junior Heavy.
“Though the team is smaller this weekend, we have a lot of power in our program,” expressed OGP Team Manager Kyle Kraus. “Jonathon is coming off a solid run at Road America and backed that up last weekend at our regional series. He is on the verge of podium at the national campaign. Nick and Ashley are at the top of their game and should be fighting for race wins in all classes.”
Along with the race team equipment, Ocala Gran Prix will be headed to New Castle with a fully stocked parts trailer that will be open for business throughout the event weekend.
