ROTAX MAX KART RACING
. . . . . . . .. . Rotax Max Points

ROTAX MAX
is more than just a karting class based around a spec engine. It is the embodiment of a return to the art of racing. In a sport that has always been a combination of science and art, these sealed engines have minimized the role of science by combining maximum performance with 50 hours of running time backed by a 6 month warranty. Support this technology with a worldwide program of regional, national and world championships and you have The ROTAX MAX Challenge.

History
Organized in 1997 by the ROTAX Kart Center (a division of Bombardier Ltd.), ROTAX MAX is the fastest growing kart racing class in the world and is now organized by authorized distributors as a national competition in over 32 countries (Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Columbia, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Southern Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, UAE and USA. The engine used is the FR-125 Max (FR-125 Junior for the Junior Max Challenge) with strictly no modifications allowed.

A key factor for the success of ROTAX MAX is strict control over engine specifications. The engines are sealed by an 'Authorized ROTAX distributor' or their 'Authorized ROTAX Service Centers', and they are the only ones allowed to check, service and reseal the engines. The chassis type is sanctioned by the ROTAX distributor and/or ROTAX Kart Center and the only tires allowed are MOJO and Brigstone YJP for Rain (developed specifically for the ROTAX MAX Challenge).

In 2000, SSC Racing launched the program in the United States as the RMax Challenge. In 2002, SSC Racing estimates there will be over 25 regional Challenges competing throughout the USA. Five drivers from each class of each region will be invited to the RMax Grand Nationals.

The Grand Finals, A Real World Championship
The top drivers of each National ROTAX MAX Challenge will be invited by the ROTAX Kart Center and its sponsors to the annual 'ROTAX MAX WORLD FINALS' . All travel expenses, accommodation and transport costs for the qualified drivers and their karts will be covered by the ROTAX Kart Center and it's sponsors.

The ROTAX Driver
ROTAX MAX endeavors to provide, at club level, performance approaching that of conventional 125cc racing karts combined with low running costs and low noise levels. While there is a ROTAX class for every age, the typical ROTAX driver is in his mid 30's, middle to upper management, well educated, has the need for speed but doesn't want to invest a lot of time or money.

These individuals simply want to go racing without the hassles of maintaining fragile race engines. They have no visions of becoming a Formula 1 driver and no desire to spend time in the pits or their money buying a competitive advantage.

With ROTAX MAX, it's about the art of racing.
